Here's a totally gorgeous old Victorian house one block removed from the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets (corner of Ashbury and Page). I'll be posting close-ups of some of the detail of this standout home over the weeks ahead. The level of color and attention given to those details is quite excellent. Click on this thumbnail to see for yourself. San Francisco, California; January, 2008.

Guess where I've been the past 4 days. If the blown up fishnet crotch shot, bay window architecture, and street sign doesn't tell you where I was, email me. January, 2008.

(NOTE: One of the advantages of film photography is when you have prints made, you have a physical product of the picture. One of the advantages of digital photography is you don't have massive quantities of paper with photos on it laying around. But one of the disadvantages of digital photography is storing those ones and zeros in a safe place. I've been storing my portfolio of photos on an external hard drive, which seems to have crashed and burned. As a result, I've lost most of my photos I've taken over the past few years, except for the few instances where I've burned a CD of a particular trip. As a result, I need to once again build up a portfolio. For you, the viewer of this page, it means that for the next week or two, all the photos will be of this recent trip to San Francisco. I apologize in advance for the one dimensional nature of the next weeks of photos. Gr8ful Ted)

I took this photo of the band Kingfish on their very first tour. I believe this was Bob Weir's first side project while with the Grateful Dead. Left to right: Robby Hoddinott, Bob Weir, Dave Torbert. Reed College, Portland, Oregon, circa 1975. It's interesting to view this photo and the Jan. 15 photo to compare what Weir looks like 30 years apart.

I thought this was in interesting looking house in a very old neighborhood. Good color combinations, and I love the curved porch. I have no idea if that wrought iron stairway is an entry into an apartment, or just a fire escape. I'd hate to carry groceries up it if it's an entry. Not sure it's the quickest way down if it's a fire escape. You can see it better by clicking on the photo. No. Adams, Massachusetts; August, 2007.
