My good friends who comprise the band Little Feat did a show last night at the Aladdin Theater. Here's multi-instrumentalist Fred Tackett playing mandolin during sound check a few hours before the show began. It was good to see and interact with them again. It had been far too long. Portland, Oregon; October, 2008.

Mount Hood on a clear, crisp Autumn afternoon. Doesn't it look like that cloud to the right of the mountain was a cloud cap that just sort of floated away? Not sure that's actually possible, but it sure looks like it. Click on thumbnail for more detail. Warm Springs Indian Reservation, rural Jefferson County, Oregon; October, 2008.

Although not nearly as colorful as last Friday's offering, I still enjoy coming home to my yard here and soak in the late afternoon sun this time of year as it comes through the changing leaves of the trees, offering long shadows. I'll just not enjoy raking those leaves up in a week or two. Madras, Oregon; October, 2008.

When England was the most power nation on Earth, it would take the most beautiful art pieces and significant historical pieces of each conquered country back to England. Most of those pieces are now stored at the Royal British Museum. These mosaics were gathered from Italy at the end of WW II and were hanging at the bottom of a stairway in the museum. To give you a sense of scale, note the little girl in the lower right hand corner. More detail by clicking on the thumbnail. London, England; July, 1997.

This is where they play: So there I was driving along to work yesterday when I drive by these two antelopes grazing out in a farmer's field. I hadn't seen antelope in our area for over 10 years. So I stopped, turned around, and used my handy, dandy little point and shoot camera to capture these two. I know the fence wire is in the way, but my presence made them really nervous and I had to get what I could. Much more detail by clicking on the thumbnail. Near madras, Oregon; October, 2008.

Madras' Native Son (pun intended) Jacoby Ellsbury is again in post-season play and got off to a terrific start last night against the Los Angeles Angels, going 3 for 5 at the plate, 2 stolen bases, and an incredible diving catch to save a possible run.

Personally, I'd never seen an orange sunflower until I ran across this sucker, which was a good 6 feet tall. Redmond, Oregon; September, 2008.
