Each year, the city of London holds the Mayor's Festival along the Thames River. We arrived in London on the day of the parade and walked among the participants prior to the festival's nighttime parade. This group was more than happy to pose for me...as were others which shall find a place here in the coming weeks. (click the thumbnail for more costume detail) London, UK; September, 2009.

So there I was, driving to work one morning a couple of weeks ago, and I came around a curve to find a hot air balloon no more than 40 feet above the highway. I snatched up my handy dandy little point and shoot, steered the car with my knees (don't try that at home, youngsters) and snapped off a series of shots. The balloon appeared to land about 100 yards on the other side of the highway to right of the photo. (click on the thumbnail to better see the design on the balloon) Near Terrebonne, Oregon; August, 2009.
