I was walking to dinner last weekas I was in Salem, OR, for a workshop and found this alley. I thought the perspective was good enough for a photo, but I especially thought it interesting someone had grown vines across it in such a way. February 23, 2006.

Great pic... is that the alley downtown near Jonathon's? Love that area with all the old buildings!

About a block from the downtown convention center.

I used to work for Oregon PeaceWorks and the alley pictured is right around the corner. We used to walk under the vines on our way to Venti's for lunch.

They're really neat when it's raining in the summer. Serves sort of like a natural umbrella. It's also a great bird haven. I often hung out there on breaks just so I could watch and listen to the birds.
