When that bear was being built, I used to love to drive by and check the progress when I was shuttling kids to and from school.
I'm not actually from Jefferson County, but rather southeast of Bend. Unless I'm thinking of a different bear, that one was built at a scrap yard on 9th street near Bend High. They were also making a smaller bear, and I thought it was going to be a mother/cub set.
Just curious, but did you make it to a lot of Dead shows? I only managed a couple (Autsen Stadium and Portland Meadows), but my husband was able to go to a few more than that.
