Do you think that we as a nation see the game this way? Do we just ignore the obvious? I agree that the game is a metaphore for war. Not so sure it teaches anything about sportsmanship anymore either.
Yeah, i think it is a meaphore for war, although you are entirely correct that we as a nation don't see it that way.
However, the people who are running this country sure do. They seemt o have either a linebacker mentality--seek & destroy at all costs--or a tailgate party mentality: let's party!; our team will win no matter what; give the best to our side, screw their side.
Jsut one being's thought about it.
