Over the past several weeks, the area in the central part of the US around the Rocky Mountains range has been hit with massive snow. Now, much of the rest of the country has been frozen. In my area, it's been getting down each night for the past several days to 25-28 degrees below freezing, and during the day it stays below freezing. We were hit with a skiff of snow, too. So this is frozen deep freeze week here at the Gr8ful Grind. There's something at once melancholy and beautiful about a restaurant's outside dining area covered in snow. Bend, OR. January 12, 2007.
