Let go of anger; It's an acid that eats away the delicate layers of your happiness

The reverse side has also its reverse side

Although it's completely different, for some reason this photo of fairgoers eating and ordering food in the fairgrounds kitchen reminds me of Edward Hopper's Night Hawks. Jefferson County Fair, Madras, Oregon; July, 2010.

The early morning sun was filtering through a window and acted as a spotlight on this floral piece I have in my living room. I grabbed the camera and snapped this. Ok, I need to get rid of the dust bunnies, but I still think the effect of the sunlight was cool. Madras, Oregon; September, 2010.

We end this week's look at the Chapel of the Holy Cross by noting even the cover to the organ has a southwestern theme. Sedona, Arizona; May, 2010.

Thursday, September 16, 2010

We're spending this week going through the Chapel of the Holy Cross. When one turns around to leave the chapel, they can again notice those incredible floor to ceiling doors, as well as the mountain of red rock out back. Just on the other side of the statue on the right (click the thumbnail to better see it) is a stairway down, leading to the gift shop. Sedona, Arizona; May, 2010.

Upon entry to the Chapel of the Holy Cross, one immediately sees out the opposing window. But as the eyes adjust to the darker environs, you can begin to focus on the more interesting details and the air of spaciousness in such a small area. Sedona, Arizona; May, 2010.

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

We are continuing our weeklong look at the Chapel of the Holy Cross. Once you reach the parking lot, get out of your car and climb the stairs to the church, you come in from the back side, obviously. Notice you can see clear through the church to the mountain formation across the valley, and check out those floor to ceiling doors! It's relatively small inside, with just 7 pews on each side. (Click the thumbnail to see the reflection of the hillside behind me). Sedona, Arizona; May, 2010.

Although I am a devout Buddhist, I can still be inspired by other spiritual disciplines. One of the most awe inspiring places I've been is the Chapel of the Holy Cross, a Catholic church in Sedona. So this week, we are going to focus on this building. This shot was taken from the hill below the chapel, at the entrance gate to the property. Sedona, Arizona; May, 2010.
