On the final day of our float, we were out of cash, so I had to bike it from the Canal du Nivernais 4 or 5 kilometers into town to find an ATM so we could pay our ride back to the put in point. I stopped in the middle of the ride to catch my breath and to capture this bucolic scene. Near Corbigny, France; September, 2009.

Into the clouds: Traveling from my Central Oregon home to the Portland area and back takes me up and over the Cascade Mountains range. On this day, there was a break in the clouds and I stopped to snag this one. (you can see the cloud patterns better by clicking on the thumbnail) On the slopes of Mount Hood, Oregon; November, 2009

One of the most popular drives in Oregon is the one from the Portland area to Government Camp at the base of Mount Hood. Without a doubt the most popular place to pull over on that drive is right here when one gets the first really good, nearly full view of the peak. I took this one just in that amber hour as the sun was getting ready to set, through the fog/clouds. Cascade foothills, rural Clackamas County, Oregon; November, 2009.

Oh, heck. We started the week with a sunset, let's end it with one, too. I was looking out my front window week before last and saw this through the trees. I grabbed my little point and shoot, ran outside and snagged this one. (click on the thumbnail to see how the ants ate the leaves) Madras, Oregon; October, 2009.

We had such a good time with a theme week last week that we thought we'd do another one this week: Doors and windows of France. The French love to decorate their stoops and window ledges, and lace curtains with distinctive patterns are also de rigueur.
